Donegal Motorclub clarifies ‘fake news’ regarding 2020 Rally

THE Donegal Motor Club have moved to quash rumours that the 2020 Donegal International Rally was to be cancelled.

A Facebook page, called ‘Donegal International Rally 2019’ posted a messaged today saying ‘Donegal rally 2020 is to be cancelled because of corona virus and to be announced next week’.

The post was shared over 400 times, prompting fears among motorsport enthusiasts.

However, the Donegal Motor Club confirmed that the post was from a fake account and encouraged followers to report the page in question to Facebook authorities.

A brief post on the Donegal Inte2rnational Rally page said: ‘Contrary to reports circulating on social media it is our intention that the Donegal International Rally will run in June as scheduled. Please share to let everyone know the facts. Thank you.’
