Letterkenny delight as Liam Delap goal caps classy League Cup final display

LIAM Delap, the son of former Republic of Ireland international Rory Delap, gave a stirring display midweek as Manchester City won the Under-18 Premier League Cup final.

Delap scored the third goal and set up another two as Man City defeated Stoke City 6-0 in the final at the Academy Stadium.

Delap is an England youth international who joined Man City from Derby County last summer.

His goal against Stoke in Tuesdsy’s final showed just why he’s so highly-rated.

In a long professional career, Rory Delap – now a coach at Stoke City – played for Carlisle, Derby County, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke City, Barnsley and Burton Albion and was capped 11 times by Ireland.

Rory’s father, John, is a native of Letterkenny. Rory’s uncles Brendan, Paddy and Anthony are well known in the Cathedral Town.

This goal has still got us gassed! 🔥 Take a bow Liam Delap. Ridiculous 🤯
