Donegal Gardai are holding a special meeting to discuss plans for safeguarding shops and businesses forced to close during the coronavirus.

Many businesses have already closed their doors with the threat of the coronavirus.

Now Gardai are moving to reassure business-owners that a plan is being formulated to protect those businesses.

Garda Sgt Eunan Walsh of Letterkenny Garda station said “The Gardai are open for business and we want the public to know that. Crime doesn’t sleep.

“We appreciate that many businesses have already been forced to close and we want to assure those businesses that we are there for them.”

Sgt Walsh confirmed that local Gardai are meeting today to discuss a plan for patrolling premises.

He assured people “Get in touch and we will help as best we can.”
