Social-distancing snorkels with Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club

SHEEPHAVEN Sub Aqua Club divers were in the water on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, taking into account the current advice on the best practice regarding social distancing in these difficult times.

While we are told to keep our distance, we are also advised to get out into the fresh air and thankfully that is something we have plenty of in Donegal.

Saturday morning’s dive was an opportunity to check out gear, as in-water conditions were not great with quite poor horizontal visibility, but as always any chance to get a dive is worth the effort.

The Sunday morning snorkel went ahead as usual, with the club members mindful of keeping their distance and minimising any personal contact, which is not difficult considering the activity involved.

Weather conditions were not great with a northerly wind whipping up a bit of a sea but the showers had cleared and there was a hint of sunshine to take the chill out of the air.

Water temperatures still haven’t recovered much and remain around 8 degrees Celsius, but from hereon we would expect to see better diving conditions, which is something to fortify ourselves with in the face of what lies ahead of us.
