Falcarragh residents advised of planned water outage on Thursday

RESIDENTS in a number of town lands in the Falcarragh area have been advised of a planned water outage tomorrow.

Irish Water has advised that customers in Baile an Teampaill, Cluain Báire, An Dún Mór, Mín Doire Dhamh, An Fál Carrach and surrounding areas that, as part of ongoing water main rehabilitation works being delivered, there will be a disruption to water supply from 10am until 1pm tomorrow.

Customers have been notified and during these essential planned works homes and businesses in the affected areas may be impacted by reduced water pressure and water outages.

Following these improvement works water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network, Irish Water says.

A spokesperson said: “This temporary disruption allows us to improve the overall security of water supply by repairing leaks or making a new connection. The majority of customers should still have some water available for hand washing in attic storage or hot water tanks for the period while the main water supply is disrupted.

“Irish Water understands this type of work can be inconvenient and will ensure our work crews make every effort to minimise any disruption these works may cause.

“These works are being carried out as part of Irish Water’s national Leakage Reduction Programme which will see €500 million invested up to the end of 2021 to reduce the level of leakage across the country by fixing and replacing ageing water mains.”

Customers can call the Irish Water customer helpline on 1850 278 278 for any questions in relation to the works.
