Gardaí are investigating a suspected hit-and-run after a boy was knocked off his bike near Ballyshannon on Thursday evening.

The incident occurred on the N3 road between Ballyshannon and Belleek.

A fourteen year old boy was cycling close to Rockfield National School at around 7.20pm when he was struck by a car and sustained minor injuries.

The driver left the scene, however, the force of the collision knocked the left-hand mirror off the car.

Gardaí believe the vehicle may have been a Black Mercedes C Class car – a 00 to 07 model

Anybody with information on the incident is asked to contact Ballyshannon Garda Station on 071 98 58530. Gardaí are appealing for dashcam footage from the time of the incident and appealing to car breakers and panel beaters to be on alert if they are asked to carry out repairs on cars of the above description.
