A number of shops and takeaways across Donegal have taken swift action to install protective screens for cashiers during the coronavirus Covid-19 emergency.
Plexiglass screens are being introduced as a barrier to help protect both staff and customers from the spread of the virus.
The measures follow other social distancing and preventative measures encouraged in local stores, such as hand sanitising stations, floor distance markers at checkouts and limits on how many customers may enter a store at once.
Kelly’s Centra at Mountain Top Letterkenny is one of the convenience stores that has brought in Plexiglass. Dedicated staff continue to work as normal in-store, while they also offer home deliveries by telephone: 07491-22026
Commenting on the plexiglass installations, Managing Director of Centra, Martin Kelleher said: “We want to give our staff and customers that extra peace of mind, and the plexiglass solution is proving to be very popular with everyone. As the leading convenience retailer in Ireland, we want to ensure that we are offering every possible solution to our stores, so we are proud to be first to market with this safety measure.”
“We would like to thank our customers for their ongoing patience and call on them to take note of the various measures in place. We all need to shop differently at the moment in order for everyone to stay healthy, and solutions like plexiglass have been introduced with the wider public’s health in mind. We would like to also remind people to use contactless wherever possible, so our team can avoid handling cash if possible, and to use smartphones for larger purchases.”
