Teachers get a lesson in Zoom thanks to Donegal man’s handy guide

Teachers making the switch to online classes have been given a helping hand thanks to a Donegal lecturer.

William McCarter from Buncrana, a lecturer in Computer Science and Audio Production at Dundalk IT, has devised a quick guide to the Zoom video app.

And he has made it available online for free for all teachers and anyone who needs it during the Covid-19 emergency. Download the guide here: A Quick Guide to Zoom

As more people work from home, school classes move online and fitness classes are taught via video, the guide to Zoom has been very popular.

“There is a big challenge for us as we are having to adapt to an online format at an accelerated and overwhelming rate,” William said.

He said that people are taking well to Zoom conferencing this week and he can see it becoming a permanent option for schools long after the social distancing guidelines are lifted.

“I can see this format becoming a teacher’s toolkit. But for now it’s a matter of showing and helping unlock Zoom’s potential for the sudden change in lifestyle for everyone,” he said.
