Watch: Poignant video captures Letterkenny scenes during Covid-19 crisis

The once-bustling town of Letterkenny has been captured in a new light in a moving video.

In the days before the Covid-19 lockdown, Letterkenny woman Ruth Keogh went out and capture footage of a changed town. She compiled clips of iconic areas, buildings and signs to highlight the stillness of a community united in isolation during the crisis.

The footage was edited along with a song called ‘Plain Truths’ written and performed by local singer Shauna McDaid.

“Shauna is my friend and wrote the song years ago, and thought what with the crisis and the town being in such a surreal state at the moment it would be good time to put the two together as a wee tribute,” Ruth said.

The special tribute has been shared widely across social media in the past day. The video has been praised as a ‘beautiful’ tribute to the town, by both residents and by those who have moved away.
