THE public are being warned about an elaborate scam that is targeting mobile phone customers.
Customers get a text, purporting to be from O2, telling people that payment for a bill ‘could not be processed by your bank’.
The text then prompts people to click on a link.
“As soon as you touch it the money is gone,” FIanna Fáil County Councillor Paul Canning said.
“They already have all your details and it’s the most advanced scam the banks have ever seen.”
Scores of people across the country have already been a victim of the latest scam.
