A Donegal woman has proven you’re never too old to learn something new as she promotes the power of online communication during her Covid-19 isolation.
Margaret, aged 83, has been isolating for the past three weeks.
But that hasn’t stopped her from keeping in touch with her nine children, her 26 grandchildren and friends through social media.
Her family gifted her with her first smartphone before the lockdown, and she has quickly become a pro at WhatsApp and following her favourite celebrities – Daniel O’Donnell, Nathan Carter and Derek Ryan.
And she has been calling grandchildren as far as away as Australia during the crisis.
Margaret’s daughter Patricia recorded this chat with her mum to share her views on keeping well while staying safe at home:
Patricia said the phone has made a huge difference to her mum’s life during this changed time.
Patricia said: “Now she can see our faces, and that has been so important for her mental health. Just shows you… your never too old to learn something new. She’s some doll. Go Mum.”
