EIGHT more Covid-19 related deaths have been confirmed by the National Public Emergency Team today.

The eight deaths mean that the country’s death toll is now 54.

Six of the deaths reported today are in the east with one in the south and one in the west. Five are female and three are male.

To date, there have been four deaths in the north west region.

Health officials says that there have been 295 new case of Covid-19, rising the total to 2,910.

In Donegal, there are now 36 confirmed cases – another sharp rise of 50 per cent.

The increase of 12 from yesterday is the biggest daily total reported in the county so far since the outbreak of the coronavirus.

Earlier today, Gaoth Dobhair-based GP Dr Tony Delap disputed the official figures when he claimed on RTÉ Raidio na Gaeltachta that a truer reading of the amount of cases in Donegal would be 400.
