There is deep sadness in the Twin Towns and surrounding areas following the passing of Stranorlar woman Angela (Angie) Doherty (née Mc Menamin).

Ms Doherty, a much-loved mother of four, passed away on Monday following a long battle with cancer.

A dear friend to many, Angie and her family received incredible support from their community during difficult times last year. Over €13,000 was raised through local fundraisers to support Angie as she underwent treatment.

Angie passed away peacefully at her home, in the loving care of her family.

Her husband Liam, and children Shannen, Brian, Jason and Kelsey are being comforted by family at this time.

The obituary notice on RIP.ie reads:

The death has occurred of Angela (Angie) Doherty (née Mc Menamin)
76 Admiran Park, Stranorlar, Donegal

Beloved wife of Liam, and much loved mother of Shannen, Brian, Jason and Kelsey. Dearly loved grandmother of Theo, cherished daughter of Tommy and Angela, devoted sister of Jerome, Orla and Merdelle. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by the extended Doherty and Mc Menamin families, neighbours and friends.

In compliance with current HSE and Government guidelines, (re: coronavirus) the wake, funeral and cremation will be strictly Private to immediate family only. A Private Mass will be offered up for Angie on Wednesday, April 8th, in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar at 10 a.m. available to view on Church of Mary Immaculate Webcam

A Memorial Mass for Angela will be held at a later date where the public can attend. The family thank you for your support, cooperation and understanding, during this difficult time. Anyone wishing to leave a message of sympathy for the family, may do so, using the Condolence Book at the bottom of this page.
