Online commemorations to replace traditional Easter Sunday celebrations

ALTERNATIVE arrangements have been put in place for the traditional Easter Commemorations this weekend.

Traditionally, large crowds gather at over 100 commemorations across the country – including many in Donegal.

The biggest commemoration in Donegal is usually in Stranorlar, where crowds traditionally assemble to make their way to the Drumboe Martyrs Memorial.

Due to the current lockdown restrictions on travel and mass gatherings, an online commemoration has been organised this year.

A live online National Easter Commemoration has been organised by Sinn Féin and will include music, song and an oration by Uachtarán Shinn Féin Mary Lou McDonald.

Due to the restrictions, there will be no wreath-laying ceremonies or flag flying at Republic Plots this weekend.
