One of Donegal’s largest holiday park operators has moved to allay concerns over travel after confirming that all sites in the county have temporarily closed.
Northern View Leisure, based in Northern Ireland, manages four caravan parks in Donegal – three in Rossnowlagh and one in Bundoran.
The parks were closed from Wednesday 25 March following the issuing of government guidelines in Northern Ireland.
However, an outdated post on the company’s website raised concern in recent days ahead of the Easter Weekend. The Covid-19 notice stated that parks were open and the measures were being kept under constant review.
It has now been confirmed that this notice was published before travel restrictions were announced and the parks have all since closed to mobile home owners.
The company has today updated its website and stated: “All our holiday parks have been closed as per government guidelines from Wednesday 25 March. All our customers have been notified by email or phone and gates have been closed.”
Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing their clampdown on holidaymakers travelling for the Bank Holiday weekend. A major checkpoint operation is underway at key border crossings to turn back cars that do not have an essential reason for travel.
Visitors who arrived at their private holiday homes prior to the border restrictions have been told to remain there until after the weekend.
