Further sharp rise sees 39 new Covid-19 cases confirmed in Donegal

THERE has been another steep rise in confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Donegal.

Figures released show 39 more new cases in the county since yesterday.

There are 264 confirmed cases in Donegal, up from 225 yesterday – a rise of 17 per cent.

Yesterday’s figure was a jump of 37 cases from the previous day.

Health officials have announced a further 41 Covid-19 related deaths in the Republic of Ireland – the largest number of deaths in this country in a single day.

The death toll in the Republic now stands at 406 with 540 having lost their lives on the island of Ireland after contracting the virus.

Of the 41 new deaths confirmed, 31 were in the east, four in the west and one in the south. 25 of them were male and 16 were female.

There have been an additional 832 cases confirmed – 548 from Irish laboratories and 284 in German labs. Those figures bring Ireland’s total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 11,479.

As of Monday night, some 90,646 tests have been carried out.
