Suspected drug courier charged after haul found in Donegal and Sligo

A man appeared in court last night after Gardai stopped a suspected drugs courier traveling at high speed on a motorbike in Co Donegal.

The motorcyclist was stopped at Tullyearl outside Donegal Town on Saturday afternoon by Gardai conducting a Covid-19 checkpoint.

He was traveling at high-speed on a high-powered motorbike but uniformed Gardai managed to stop him.

The driver was found to have €6,000 cannabis and €1,000 of amphetamine concealed on his person.

A follow-up search was conducted under a search warrant at a property in Riverstown, Co. Sligo where €10,000 amphetamine was recovered.

The male was arrested and questioned at Ballyshannon Garda station.

He appeared before a special sitting of Sligo district court last night, Monday 13th April 2020, and was charged with offences relating to the sale/supply of drugs.

A file is being prepared for submission to the DPP.
