Gardaí in Donegal have said that drink and drug driving remains a major concern in the county during the Covid-19 isolation period.
A total of 13 arrests were made due to driving offences across Donegal in the past week.
Eight people were arrested for drink driving and five were detected drug driving. The highest number of offences was recorded in Letterkenny, with three drink driving and three drug driving arrests.
The rise in detections has been linked with a greater garda presence on the roads at Covid-19 checkpoints.
The distribution of cases, since Tuesday 14th April, is as follows:
- One drink driving arrest in Ballyshannon District
- One drink driving arrest in Milford
- Two drug driving, two drink driving and one drunk in charge offence in Buncrana
- Three drink driving and three drug driving arrests in Letterkenny
