There has been a notable increase in the number of Garda checkpoints across Donegal today to coincide with the enforcement of guidelines in connection with Covid-19.
The public has reported a number of Garda checkpoints at various locations.
With a noted increase in traffic, Gardai are clamping down on unnecessary travel.
A number of checkpoints have been reported this morning in Letterkenny, Donegal Town, at the Ballynalecky Crossroads between Raphoe and St Johnston as well as Ballyshannon and Buncrana.
It follows a number of Government warnings from Government that people need to adhere to guidelines on unnecessary travel.
A Garda spokesman warned “People should only travel when it is absolutely necessary. Going for a drive or visiting friends even if they are keeping social distancing is not included in the guidelines.
“We are all in this together and we need to adhere to the guidelines to overcome this pandemic.”
