Healthcare staff now make up 35% of all coronavirus cases in the North West – up from 30% last week.
The increase comes as 68 new cases were confirmed among healthcare workers in the region in the past week, bringing the total to 219 (as of 25th April).
Of the known cases among north west healthcare staff, eight are associated with foreign travel and 101 workers had no history of foreign travel in the 14 days prior to onset of symptoms. The travel status of the remaining 110 workers was not specified.
The data was issued by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre today, which also confirmed that three more clusters were identified in the North West in one day up to 25th April.
There are now 31 known clusters across Donegal, Sligo and Leitrim. One more outbreak was reported in a community hospitals/long-stay unit and two new outbreaks identified in workplaces.
