Organisers confirm cancellation of 2020 Clonmany Show

THE 2020 Clonmany Agricultural Show has been cancelled, organisers have confirmed.

Members of the organising committee held a meeting this week to discuss their options.

“After careful consideration, and taking all factors into account we have come to the difficult  decision to cancel the 2020 Clonmany Agricultural Show,” they announced in a statement.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have taken into account our trade stands and businesses as well as our exhibitors who benefit greatly each year from our show. However, we have also taken into account the safety, interest and wellbeing of our visitors, of our volunteers of our own committee and of course of the people in our great little Clonmany community.”

The committee acknowledged that running such a large event, or even a smaller event in its place would be ‘ irresponsible, reckless, and unfair to all the people who are working so hard in our community to keep themselves and others safe.’

The 2020 Grand Prize Draw has always been cancelled. Anyone who has purchased a ticket will receive a full refund. Sponsors will be offered a refund or alternatively given the option to suspend their sponsorship until 2021.

The committee said: “We were looking forward as always to delivering a 2020 show for everyone to enjoy, however this is not to be, but we look forward to welcoming you all in 2021, when your support will be needed more than ever.

“We would also like to thank our trade stands and exhibitors, so many of which had already committed to attending our show this year. Without you all, our show would not be the success it is.

“We would also like to thank our landowners and road owners, who without their kind permission and help, our show could not take place. A final word of thanks to our volunteers who each year put their shoulder to the wheel and pull together in the spirit of community. We have no doubt this year would have been no different and we hope 2021 will be the same.

“We as a committee have already put an awful lot of effort into a 2020 show, a show with new ideas that was bigger and better than ever. There is no one more disappointed to not deliver on our hard work than us. But we will use this as an opportunity to come back with a superb show in 2021. A bigger, better and more entertainment filled show than ever before.”
