People coughing and sneezing and with colds in work or in colleges or school could be asked to leave, Dr Tony Holohan has warned.

The Chief Medical Officer said we have to introduce new guidelines as we move forward to the new ‘norm’ with Covid-19.

He said that before now with the Covid-19 pandemic there was a “reasonable level of tolerance” for people going to work with a cold or cough.

He said however, that such situations will become ‘things of the past’ as the world continues to fight the killer virus

But revealed those scenarios would now become “things of the past” as the world continues to fight the killer virus.

Dr Holohan said: “We have sort of a reasonable level of tolerance or we did for people coming into workplace or in school environments or social settings with colds and coughs and these will be things of the past because they’ll have to be.

“Without a vaccine, we’re going to have to live in those ways.”
