A DONEGAL couple denied their wedding yesterday due to the Covid-19 lockdown staged a ‘mock wedding’ to toast their big day.

Amy Gallagher and Patrick Ryder had their celebrations all planned for the beautiful Blue Haven in Kilcar.

Rather than let the day pass, Donegal town woman Amy and Patrick, who halls from Castleknock in Dublin, held their own ‘wedding’ at home. Their wedding has been rescheduled for a later date and the couple hope to be able to join with friends and family to celebrate soon.

“I just wanted to mark the day,” Amy told Donegal Daily. “It was just an idea for me Patrick and the boys, Tiernan and Lennon, to do something on the day.”

Tiernan and Lennon took on key rolls in the wedding and Amy’s friend Sinead O’Donnell-Carey put together a lovely video including some messages from cousins in Donegal, Kerry and as far away as Philadelphia.

Amy said: “That was so lovely and such a surprise to get.”
