GARDAÍ have warned motorists to ensure their vehicles are properly locked.

The latest warning comes after items were stolen from cars in Inishowen last week.

Gardaí have interviewed a person in relation to the theft of items from three cars on a night last week in a residential area within the Buncrana District.

Gardai say that they are not seeking anyone in connection to the incidents as they have interviewed a person.

None of the cars were locked at the time of the incidents.

“We ask that you always secure your car even when it is parked at your own home,” Gardaí said.

“Try to park in a well-lit location if possible. Never leave anything of value in your vehicle, whether that be electronic products, jewellery or cash.

“The driveway of your home is actually the most common location for a theft from your car to occur so please ensure when you park you that you lock up also!”
