Gardaí have released a description of a man in an appeal over a deliberate fire at Oldtown Letterkenny on Thursday last.
The fire was started at around 4.40am on Thursday 7th May behind a bar, takeaway and convenience store building. There was a lot of rubbish in the area, and the proximity of the blaze to a gas tank led to an evacuation operation to move local residents away until the fire was safely brought under control.
Gardaí are continuing investigations and have revealed that CCTV footage from the scene shows a man wearing light-coloured tracksuit bottoms, dark trainers with a white sole, a dark-coloured jacket or hoodie with the hood up. He was also wearing black gloves.
An appeal is underway calling on the public to report any sightings of a man of this description.
Anyone who can help identify the suspect is asked to call Letterkenny Garda Station 074-9167100 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
