Senior citizens and vulnerable persons will be given priority for visits to the Bernard Mc Glinchey Town Park in Letterkenny for three mornings each week during the pandemic.
Donegal County Council has designated times on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.00am until 11.00am.
During these times, gardaí of the Community Policing Unit will be on patrol for public safety.
The move comes almost two weeks after people who were cocooning were advised they could leave their homes for daily exercise outdoors.
A one-way walking system was also introduced at the Town Park near the beginning of the Covid-19 period in an effort to encourage safe social distancing.
