Donegal man kept in custody after making threat

May 20, 2020

A DONEGAL man was remanded in custody after making a threat to kill or cause serious harm.

Patrick McLaughlin (54) of Meenacuing, Gweedore, was before Falcarragh District Court.

McLaughlin was charged in connection with an incident at Meenacuing, Gweedore on April 26, 2020.

McLaughlin made no reply when charged.

Solicitor for McLaughlin, Mr Patsy Gallagher, told the court that the alleged victim in the case had attended Milford Garda Station and advised that she wished to withdraw her complaint.

“A direction will now have to be made in this regard,” Mr Gallagher said. “Mr McLaughlin is happy to postpone any bail application to see if the State can get direction. We are in the court’s hands.”

Garda Inspector Seamus McGonagle objected to bail.

“We would be fearful if he gets bail today,” Inspector McGonagle told the court.

Judge Paul Kelly remanded McLaughlin in custody to appear in court on May 25.
