Twelve more Covid-19 deaths and 76 new cases in Ireland

Twelve more people have died from Covid-19 in Ireland, health officials confirmed this evening.

This brings the number of Covid-19 related deaths in the Republic to 1,583.

A further 76 new cases have been confirmed. The total number of cases since the outbreak began now stands at 24,391, with an 87% recovery rate confirmed yesterday.

Today is the sixth day in a row that the number of new cases per day is below 100.

Up to midnight 16th May, there had been 7,660 cases of Covid-19 among healthcare workers.
