Gardaí close access to Donegal beach

Rossnowlagh beach has been closed to traffic after large crowds were reportedly gathering in recent days.

Gardaí have put a blockade at the vehicle entrance to the beach this morning.

The beach will be monitored over the Bank Holiday weekend to ensure that the only beachgoers are people who live in the 5km radius.

Concerns were raised by locals yesterday over large numbers of people gathering on Rossnowlagh beach and nearby beaches in South Donegal, despite travel being restricted to 5km from a person’s home.
