DONEGAL photographer Kate Slevin captured this stunning picture of Fall Island.
Kate took the picture of the picturesque island and her frame is a perfect reflection of the impact the Covid-19 pandemic is having.
The following is how Kate has wonderfully captioned the image…
“When life throws you a storm, look for the rainbow.
“Fall Island (Oileán an Easa) is located two miles north west of Burtonport. It is 200 metres from north to south and 100 metres from east to west, with just one lone, isolated house built on it.
“The granite rocks are huge with the edges smoothed by the sea and the wind. Access is gained at low tide when the ocean floor reappears to form a drivable road between the island and the mainland.
“Timing is everything in order to stay safe. Imagine having to watch a tide chart to go anywhere!
“In some ways the picture almost reflects the current crisis. Isolation, isn’t fun but it is not forever.
“Our storm is challenging, it can’t be ignored, but it will pass. To see a rainbow is always a gift, like an ‘apology’ for the rain and angry skies. And within moments it is gone.
“Rainbows remind us of the hope that exists, and of a better future we can look forward to. Stay safe everyone.”
