Gardai are investigating the cause of a fire at a derelict house in Ballybofey in the early hours of this morning.

The house on the Donegal Road was badly damaged in the blaze.

Gardai confirmed they attended the fire along with other emergency services.

A spokesperosn said “Shortly after midnight, Gardaí responded to reports of the fire along with Letterkenny Fire Service and Ambulance Services.

“The fire was extinguished and a search was conducted of the property. No person was present in the property at the time of the incident.”

It is believed from initial enquiries that the fire started accidentally.
