VISITORS to the popular Ned’s Point in Buncrana have been warned not to park their cars on the slipway.

Members of the Lough Swilly Lifeboat Station issued a public appeal this evening after members of the public parked in an area used to launch lifeboats.

“Please DO NOT PARK on the slipway at Ned’s Point,” a message on their Facebook page read.

“This slipway is used to launch lifeboats 24/7 365 days of the year.

“We appreciate Ned’s was busy today but any delay launching our emergency service could potentially cost lives.”

Ned’s Point Fort formed part of the costal defences of Ireland and Lough Swilly for the duration of the nineteenth century and the area is frequented by large numbers on a regular basis.
