The government is expected to fast-track some of Ireland’s Covid-19 reopening plans with more easing of travel and retail restrictions from Monday.
People will be urged to ‘stay local’ as the travel limit is extended to 20km on 8th June.
The Cabinet will meet today to discuss other reopening measures which would lift the economy after months of closures.
Initial retail plans for Phase 2 were to allow only small retail outlets to reopen, but this is expected to be expanded to big retail outlets which have an entrance on to a street.
However, Penneys shoppers will have to wait for another phase, as the company confirmed that all Irish stores will remain closed until further notice.
The reopening of playgrounds and summer camps is also set to be approved today.
