Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael Naughton has been elected as Cathaoirleach of the Donegal Municipal District.
The Laghey Councillor was nominated at today’s AGM and will take on the role previously held by Sinn Féin Cllr Noel Jordan.
Commenting after the meeting, Cllr Naughton said he was honoured to take up the position.
He said: “I look forward to working on your behalf for the year ahead, and I will be your voice especially for the business and tourism industries at this challenging time, I will be working with my colleagues and the executive to make sure that this MD will be kept to the forefront in the county, here’s to brighter days ahead.”
Ballyshannon based Fine Gael Cllr Barry Sweeney was also appointed as Leas Cathaoirleach today, taking over from Sinn Féin’s Michael McMahon.
