Long Lane Residents group take development work to Manor View

THE Long Lane Area Residents Association have continued on from their green area development project by taking it to Manor View Park.

The large green area had been neglected and was unable to be maintained due to the lack of intervention as well as affordable and suitable equipment for such a huge project.

However, in recent weeks, the residents have pulled their sleeves up and after their clean up and development of Hazelbrook green area, Manor View has become another challenge for the community.

Manor View residents have been working extensively on the green, which has a tarmac area, a huge green and have even been cleaning out the river nearby.

Chairperson, Finn O’Donnell said: “The local residents have been doing amazing work in the estate. The council have been very generous donating skips in order to remove the rubbish and have also given us ‘no dumping signs’ which we are very grateful for. I want to commend the hard work by the residents and the support form our local council.”

Although the work is on going and a lot has been done, the residents of Manor View have expressed their admittance that some parts of the area is just too big a job for just local residents with a few gardening tools.

One resident said: “We are thankful of the councils help and support. However, we know that there are bigger jobs the council could help us with. The illegal dumping and overgrowth of the green needs to be cleared away, the fencing around the area needs to be completed as anti social elements are remaining to disturb the place and the tarmac area needs resurfaced.

“We know this is a big ask and it wont be overnight but we are now committed to see this through. We have the Long lane Committee and have cooperation with the council so with a little grit and hard work, we can achieve our goals.”
