NW Simon Community calling on public to ‘Dip and Donate’

North West Simon are calling on people in Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo to take a dip and donate what they can during the weekend of June 20th– the longest day of the year.

Due to current public health guidelines, the North West Simon Community’s much-loved Dip at Dawn fundraising event at Rosses Point can’t happen as planned this June.

Without the income generated by events like this, the homelessness support charity will struggle to meet the current need for services.

As an alternative, the charity is asking volunteers to take time out of your longest day to help someone else on theirs, by taking a dip and donating what you can at https://www.northwestsimon.ie/donate-now/ and please mention Dip & Donate in the comment box.

Last year it was €20 to register but whatever you can give will be much appreciated, also nominate others to do the same.

If you can’t make it to Donegal or Sligo beaches, you can always take a dip in a local lake/river, pond, or even your back garden paddling pool or bath!

Tara Mc Evoy from Sligo Yoga centre is kindly offering a free yoga session to all who take part in Dip & Donate – further details on her website https://www.sligoyogacentre.ie/

June 20th is Ireland’s Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year. For many of us, this symbolises the start of summer. A day where people take time to enjoy with friends and family, doing simple and everyday things that many take for granted.

When you’re homeless, you are forced to go without the simplest comforts. It can be lonely and relentless, you are living minute to minute, and every day can seem like the longest day of the year.

100% of proceeds from Dip & Donate will go directly to North West Simon Community who provide support to those facing homelessness in the North West.

Make sure to share your photos/video of your dip and tag North West Simon Community at:
Facebook: @northwestsimoncommunity   Instagram: @northwestsimoncommunity1  Twitter: @NWSimon using the hashtag #Dip&Donate.

Further details of this event can be found on Facebook – @northwestsimoncommunity

“Next year we hope to be back with Dip at Dawn in various locations but for now we really need your support more than ever,” a spokesperson said.

Contact Collette on: M: 087 0552478 or E: collette@northwestsimon.ie  if you require further information.
