Donegal’s Penneys fans will be getting their shopping lists ready as the county’s only store reopens this Monday 15th June.
The Letterkenny Shopping Centre branch has been closed for over 12 weeks due to the COVID-19 crisis, but shoppers will very soon get the chance to stock up on PJs, socks and basic bits once again.
The Letterkenny store will open from 10.30am, so there won’t be too long to go until customers can fill their baskets. Large queues were seen from as early as 4am at Dublin Penneys stores, such was the excitement.
Some queues have been expected locally, due to limits on the number of customers allowed in store at any one time.
Other changes shoppers will see are fitting rooms being temporarily closed off, all testers will be removed from the health and beauty department and more security staff and dedicated employees will be working in store to manage social distancing.
Penneys have also redesigned the layout of stores to allow for more space between people and every second till is closed in order to leave appropriate space between customers and between employees.
Shoppers who are expecting to bag cut-price bargains have been told to keep calm.
“There are no big sales, our amazing prices remain the same and we have plenty of product in stock,” said a statement on social media.
Employees in Letterkenny have been worked hard to prepare for the reopening and they have also played their part volunteering to help the community during Covid-19. In April, staff gave their time to coordinate and deliver 200 care packs for Letterkenny University Hospital patients containing hundreds of products including underwear, leggings, t-shirts, and towels.
