Man killed in suspected hit-and-run is named

The man killed in a suspected hit-and-run incident in Letterkenny this morning has been named locally as Jason Haughey.

Mr Haughey, who was well-known in the town, was in his early 30s.

His family have been informed of his death.

His remains are still at the hospital and a post mortem is expected to be carried out shortly.

The victim was found around 4am by a passer-by at Windyhall on the outskirts of the town.

He was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Gardai have sealed off the scene of the incident where they continue to carry out a full investigation into the incident.

Gardai have appealed for anybody who was in the area from 1am until 4am to contact them.
