A Donegal school is taking the virtual route to celebrate Active Week as students join fun fitness activities from home – with a little help from local sports stars.

Scoil Bhríde N.S. in Convoy, led by their principal Grainne Reid and their Active School Committee launched their Active School Week yesterday Monday June 22nd.

There were lots of fun and exciting activities completed.

They included Gaelic Training led by St. Marys GAA Convoy, Foot Rhythms led by Christy Murray (Musician and Donegal Piper), Rugby led by Allen McCrea (Finn Valley Rugby Club) and a staff pupil challenge led by Mrs. Keaney.

Motivational messages were received by Michael Murphy (Donegal Senior Captain), Oisín Gallen (Donegal Senior Player), Ellie Barron (Past Pupil and Donegal Ladies Minor Player) and Geraldine McLaughlin (Donegal Senior Ladies Captain).

Sincere thanks to all involved yesterday.

The fun and excitement continued today for the pupils of Scoil Bhríde.

Activities planned include Cycling led by pupil Conor Kelly and his dad Brian and Soccer led by Convoy Arsenal. Pupils also had an Assault Course led by staff member and former Finn Harps Player and legend Packie Mailey.

Convoy Ladybirds, Brownies and Guides led pupils in a tent making challenge. They had motivational videos by Danny Ryan, Former Pro Boxer, Indoor Rowing world record holder and RTE’s Irelands Fittest Family contender. They also received a special message from Tyler Toland, Irish International Senior Ladies Soccer Player and midfielder for Manchester City Ladies.

All activities and videos are available to view on the Scoil Bhríde Facebook page. Watch out for some more high profile celebrities throughout the week.

The school’s Active School motto is: Get up, get out, move about, that’s the rule in our Active School!
