Motorists are being advised to take extra care today due to a risk of spot flooding on the roads.
A Status Yellow Rainfall Warning is in place for Donegal today (Sunday) until 9am tomorrow morning (Monday). A wind warning has also been issued from 10am until 10pm today.
There will be heavy rain and blustery conditions at times, leading to accumulations of 40 to 60mm with spot flooding. Winds may reach speeds of 50 to 60km/h with gusts up to 100km/h. Met Eireann warns that higher rainfall accumulations totals are expected in mountainous areas with the risk of flash flooding.
“Localised heavy downpours may cause a rapid change to road conditions. If you’re travelling in any affected areas, slow down, take extra caution, and keep further back from the vehicle in front,” said AA roadwatch.
