Workers on the Covid-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) are being asked to reconfirm that they are still eligible by July 13, or risk having their payments affected.
Almost 16,000 people in Donegal are currently availing of the emergency payment scheme which changed to a two-tier payment system on Monday.
The scheme is now based on a worker’s earnings before the pandemic. The payment changes will come into effect from next Tuesday, July 7.
Workers whose employment earnings were €200 per week or higher before Covid-19 will continue receiving €350 per week.
The payment will be reduced to €203 per week for part-time workers who earned below €199.99 per week before Covid-19 closures.
Anyone who is currently in receipt of the COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment is now asked to confirm their continued entitlement to this payment.
To continue receiving this payment, a person must be:
- Fully unemployed – permanently or temporarily as a result of COVID-19
- Or, if self-employed , your trading income has been significantly reduced
- Living in the Republic of Ireland
