TYRES of a large number of cars, parked at private residences, were slashed overnight in housing estates in Ballybofey.

Gardaí have confirmed that they are investigating the incidents, which have, they said affected ‘a considerable number of vehicles’.

Officers conducted house-to-house visits in estates including Glenpatrick Park and Sessiagh View.

Some residents were unaware of damage inflicted upon their cars until the arrival of Gardaí to the scene of the rampage.

It is believed that over 20 vehicles were damaged.

A Garda spokesperson told Donegal Daily: “Gardaí are investigating a number of criminal damage incidents relating to cars that occurred in the Glenpatrick Park area of Co. Donegal  on July 5th 2020 at approximately 1.45am.

“Damage was caused to the tyres of a considerable number of vehicles in the area and nearby estates.

“No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing.”
