The council has been urged to place new speed ramps on the Glencar Road in Letterkenny before another accident might occur.
A number of near misses have been reported in one problematic area of the road from the Gaelscoil Junction to Chestnut Grove.
Extra ramps seem to be the only solution, according to Councillor Gerry McMonagle.
He told the council at this week’s meeting that residents are facing visibility problems turning out onto the road.
“As they are coming out of the driveway they have to be halfway out on the road before they can see up or down,” Cllr McMonagle said.
The Letterkenny Roads Department responded to the motion to say that the last ramp was installed along Glencar Road at Blacks Bridge, which has resulted in reduced speeds.
Cllr McMonagle asked the roads section to look at the area again and install at least two more ramps, and warned: “It’s too late putting ramps up when somebody has been knocked down or seriously injured.”
