July 18, 2020

An Inishowen man has pleaded guilty to assault and having possession of a manner capable of causing or inflicting serious injury.

James Breslin, from Millbrae Heights in Carndonagh, appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

He pleaded guilty to assault causing harm as well as the production of an article capable of inflicting serious injury, a hammer, on June 15th, 2019.

Mr Breslin’s barrister, Mr Peter Nolan, said there were some very specific features to the case and he was seeking a probation and welfare report.

Mr Nolan added that he was also seeking a psychiatric report on Mr Breslin under the circumstances.

He explained to Judge John Aylmer that this could be useful as an “unfortunate tragedy” had occurred to his client before the incident which caused him psychiatric issues.

Judge Aylmer agreed and adjourned the case until September for sentence.
