Coronavirus: One death and 17 more cases confirmed in Republic

One more person with Covid-19 has sadly died in Ireland, the Department of Health has confirmed today. 

This brings the total number of deaths to 1,754.

There have also been 17 new cases of the virus confirmed in the Republic.

The number of Covid-19 cases which have been confirmed in Donegal remains at 472 since the outbreak began.

Earlier today, The Mater Hospital in Dublin confirmed that a doctor who worked at the hospital has died after contracting Covid-19. Dr Syed Waqqar Ali died at the age of 59 after spending three months in ICU.

Dr Ali’s passing brings to eight the number of healthcare workers who have died from Covid-19 in Ireland.
