The Government has officially released the countries that are on Ireland’s “green list” for travel.
While people are still be encouraged to holiday in Ireland this year, anyone arriving into Ireland from the 15 listed countries will not have to quarantine.
The countries are:
- Malta
- Finland
- Norway
- Italy
- Hungary
- Estonia
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Cyprus
- Slovakia
- Greece
- Greenland
- Gibraltar
- Monaco
- San Marino.
The list has been described as advice for people who continue to travel during the pandemic. However, the government is continuing to promote the advice that: “The safest thing to do is not to travel.”
Up to 50,000 people a week are leaving Ireland (less than 10% than usual) and the list has been created to make travellers aware of risk levels.
Passengers from any other country outside of those on the green list are asked to restrict their movements for 14 days. The list will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis, based on advice from officials including public health experts.
There is no change to the current government policy regarding travel from Northern Ireland.
