Donegal goes positively pink for little Livie!

We’ll be seeing all shades of pink this weekend as Donegal gets behind baby Livie’s major fundraising events.

The ‘Big Pink’ weekend aims to raise over €200,000 to reach the ultimate goal for potentially life-saving treatment for a cherished baby girl.

Anyone can get involved by simply wearing pink and donating to the fund or joining any local events (details below). Visit the main GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-better-life-for-livie

Reaching the target will be the best first birthday present Olivia ‘Livie’ Mulhern could receive. Without urgent funding, the heartbreaking reality is that she is unlikely to live past her 2nd birthday.

Livie has spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) type 1 and her parents, Keith, who is from Donegal Town, and Karen Vickers from Dublin, are in a race against time to secure a $2.1million gene therapy treatment in the US.

The generosity of people across Ireland has put the total within their reach, and this weekend will see a bumper schedule of events taking place to hopefully get to the goal.

Yesterday’s Pink Friday was a great success, with staff teams nationwide wearing pink to work to support the campaign.

Today (Saturday) will see events taking place in Kerry, including virtual walk/run, and a Big Beard Shave at Tralee Garda Station.

It’s Donegal’s time to shine on Sunday, when Letterkenny and Donegal Town will host fundraisers for all the family.

The Big Pink Pram Push takes place in Letterkenny Town Park on Sunday 12noon

A Big Pram Push will be held in Letterkenny Town Park (Bernard McGlinchey Park) at 12noon on Sunday. Parents are invited to come and walk around the park in support of the cause. Click here for more: https://www.gofundme.com/f/big-pram-push-in-the-park-for-livie

At the same time, 12noon, Donegal Town will be buzzing with events for Livie. There will be Music on The Diamond and on The Bank Walk. Little Mamma’s Donegal Town are offering ice cream sundae special and the Donegal Bay Rowing Club and Gym are hosting a 3hr Row-a-thon.

All are welcome to join the events or host your own Big Pink fundraiser and donate to A Better Life for Livie here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-better-life-for-livie
