In rare glorious sunshine Naomh Columba came out on top for two crucial points against Naomh Brid in Pairc na nGall this afternoon in the Intermediate Championship.

Naomh Columba 2-13  Naomh Brid 1-7

Naomh Columba led 0-6 to 0-2 with 20 minutes gone, with Christopher Byrne landing two from forward marks early on.

Callum Gallagher, with a fine effort, and Darragh Brogan got Naomh Brid on the board.

Further points from Aaron Doherty (free), Ryan Gillespie, David O’Donnell and Fionn Gallagher stretched the lead to four.

The half time score was Naomh Columba 0-8 Naomh Brid 0-3.

The visitors will rue three good chances for goal before the break.

The second half started with more twists and turns than a soap opera. Within three minutes of the restart Ross Gallagher made a run from full back through on goal. He passed it to Darragh Brogan who scored from close range to leave just two in it.

From the kick out, Eoin Rush found himself through on goal but this time Gerry McGill made the save.

The ball was cleared from goal straight up to the forward line and Christopher Byrne found the left corner of the net.

The home side with the wind in their sails got a point from Lanty Molloy.
