Met Eireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for Donegal, Galway and Mayo today as heavy rain strikes the west and north west coast.
There is a risk of spot flooding in areas as accumulations of 20 to 40mm of rain are expected.
Forecasters have warned that there may be poor driving conditions with poor visibility.
The weather warning is in effect from 9am Tuesday until 1pm Wednesday.
Today will see the highest temperatures of 16 to 18 degrees in fresh to strong southwesterly winds.
Tonight will also see outbreaks of rain continuing, occasionally turning heavy. It will be mild, humid and misty overnight, with lowest temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees. The forecast predicts blustery conditions too with fresh to strong southerly winds.
“Tomorrow will start off cloudy with further outbreaks of rain through the morning and early afternoon, heavy at times. The rain will gradually clear eastwards through the afternoon and evening with drier and brighter conditions following from the west,” Met Eireann said.
