Local residents in Buncrana are calling on Donegal County Council to take action to slow traffic in a busy residential area.
A petition has been launched to ask the council to add speed ramps to Aghilly Road between Heather Park and Gort na mBó.
Concerns surround the speed of passing traffic and the number of young children who play in the area.
Jim Doherty, who created the petition, wrote: “Since resurfacing works completed on the road a number of years ago it has become apparent that the speed of traffic on the road has become a concern for pedestrians and the residents in the area.”
“Moreso, there is quite a large number of young children living along this road who play regularly within its vicinity. They should be allowed to continue to do so with the added benefit of having calming measures implemented that will lessen the risk of accidents from traffic that uses the road.”
The issue is set to be raised with Donegal County Council Roads staff in the weeks to come.
